Job Title:         Pharmacy Delivery Driver

Reports to:     Director of Pharmacy Operations or Chief Pharmacist, Staff Pharmacist

Status:            Non-Exempt

***This position is part time. Home location is the long term care pharmacy at 12th & Kiwanis. The delivery route will be Monday through Friday, 4pm to 9pm to Canistota, SD and back then assisting with the completion of in town deliveries. There is an on call every 5th weekend requirement. The on call hours are 9am to 5pm and does include occasional out of town deliveries. 

Summary

The Delivery Driver’s primary responsibility is to operate a motor vehicle (van, utility van, automobile, etc.) on public roads and highways to transport medications and supplies in a timely manner. Deliveries will be made from Lewis Drug Pharmacies and other locations to private and public healthcare facilities and potentially homes and apartments. This person must have a professional demeanor and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Learn Lewis Drug policies and procedures and perform them daily
  • Professionally manage and assist in all scheduled deliveries and new deliveries
  • Current and valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to read a map and/or use a GPS device
  • Maintain the confidentiality of patients’ private medical information according to the HIPAA Act
  • Obey all traffic laws and assure self-safety at all times
  • Maintain accurate paperwork and logs
  • Assist other drivers when needed
  • Promote Lewis initiatives and represent Lewis in a positive manner to our patients and communities
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy Operations, Facilities Manager, and pharmacy staff

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress)
  • Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Must be at least age 18
  • Current and valid driver’s license and clean driving record are required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Work with full range of hands, wrists, and arms (i.e. Ability to pick up and pinch small items with fingers, and seize, hold, grasp or turn objects with hands)
  • Ability to lift/move items up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently, and less than 10 lbs constantly
  • Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction
  • Must have depth perception, color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and field of vision
  • Must have ability to communicate verbally with staff and patients
  • Must be able to load and unload vehicles
